This announcement was released a few weeks ago and snuck by me as there was little fanfare about it. However, we want to take a moment to thank you for your support and for sharing your thoughts during the USDA’s recent public comment period. Your voices were heard.
On April 24, 2025, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) withdrew its proposed rule titled “Salmonella Framework for Raw Poultry Products.” This decision came after receiving over 7,000 public comments, reflecting the diverse perspectives of farmers, consumers, and small businesses like ours.
Here’s a brief excerpt from the FSIS notice:
“FSIS has withdrawn the proposed rule published on August 7, 2024, after careful consideration of over 7,000 public comments, recognizing the need for further assessment to ensure a fair, science-based approach.”
Thank you for supporting local farms, it truly makes a difference.
