Solar Chickens?

Animals that live in environments rich in dirty electricity are much more likely to develop certain cancers than animals in dirty electricity-free homes.

Have you heard of the latest farming science experiment? As solar panels cover farmland here in southern Louisiana, we are scrambling to find space for animals. No problem: raise chickens under the solar panels. As with many other agricultural innovations of the past decades, it sounds wonderful: get double use out of your land, right? Like those innovations, though, it hasn’t been tested and, if it were, the results might not be made public. So instead of waiting for those tests, we will look at the information that is out there. First, do solar panels emit electro-magnetic frequencies? Well, a solar panel itself doesn’t emit much. But all of the wiring and smart boards that go with them do. ( EMF Radiation From Solar Panels (& Dirty Electricity) (emfadvice.com) Next, we wonder if there is any data on the effects of electromagnetic frequencies (dirty electricity) on animals. There is!  People who care about pets have done some research and it’s not pretty: animals that live in environments rich in dirty electricity are much more likely to develop certain cancers than animals in dirty electricity-free homes. (EMF Radiation And Your Pets – A Brief Guide – EMF Academy) Now, this next step takes some thinking, because this is information about the effects of dirty electricity on young humans: young humans experience much worse effects from exposure to dirty electricity than adults do.  Health effects of electromagnetic fields on children – PMC (nih.gov) So might we also conjecture that developing chickens might be more fragile and thus, more easily damaged by EMFs than adult chickens? Maybe. Here at Credo Farms, we don’t run experiments when the existing data suggest that there will be problems. We raise our chickens on grass under the sun.
